Kishkindha Kanda is one of the episodes in the great epic Ramayana which starts after the Aranya Kanda. The Aranya Kanda ends by the meeting of Rama and Lakshmana with the wounded Jatayu while searching for Sita. They subsequently killed a rakshasa on the way who told them to go to the Rishyamuka Mountain where they would meet the great monkey Sugriva. He also told the two brothers that Sugriva was very good and he would help them rescue Sita from the demon Ravana. Thus, Rama and Lakshmana moved towards the Rishyamuka Mountain to meet the great monkey Sugriva, the younger brother of Bali of Kishkindha. The great monkey Sugriva lived in exile in the Rishyamuka Mountain since he was driven away from Kishkindha and robbed of his wife by his elder brother Bali.
