CONSTITUTION - Digital Legislation (Constitution of the Republic of Turkey. Law Number: 2709, Date of Adoption: 18/10/1982) - It is the highest law of Turkey. This law determines the basic principles and laws in Turkey, determines the powers and duties of the government, and guarantees some rights to the Turkish people. The Constitution of the Republic of Turkey is the constitution of Turkey that has been valid since November 9, 1982. It was prepared by the Advisory Council on the orders of the military administration after the September 12 Coup, and was accepted by the Advisory Council on September 23, 1982, and by the National Security Council on October 18, 1982. President Kenan Evren added the fourth article to the draft stating that the first three articles of the Constitution "cannot be changed or proposed to be changed". It was accepted with 91.37 percent of the votes in favor as a result of the referendum held on Sunday, November 7, 1982. The Constitution has been amended twenty-one times to date. There are 7 parts, 177 articles and 16 temporary articles in the Constitution.
