About Work My Way

Need help getting the right amount of breaks in your day - work your way.

Research suggests sitting for long periods without breaks can slow the metabolism and is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (14%), type 2 diabetes (91.0%), cancer mortality (13%), and all-cause mortality (22%), independent of physical activity levels. This App works with two MetaWear IoT development boards as an intervention to promote regular breaks in sedentary work. You need to wear one MetaWear to track your sitting patterns and attach another Metawear to any break-related objects (e.g. mug) as the medium to deliver reminders. With the App, you can review your sitting patterns, review your achievements, and set up personalised break reminders and behaviour change goals.

This system was designed by Yitong Huang as part of her PhD research, and developed by Dominic Price, at the University of Nottingham. By using the App and connected devices, you consent to having your physical activity data and App usage data collected and used for research purposes.
