About Whats Next

Mulligan? Keep? Calculate your chance of drawing the cards you need now!

Whats Next calculates the probability of drawing a specific needed card in games like Magic the Gathering (MTG). There are many great websites that let you do this, but they ask you to understand obscure symbols like N, K, n and k and it can be confusing to work out what information to provide.

Whats Next helps by asking you to simply enter:

- The number of cards left in your deck

- The number of copies of the card you need are left in the deck

- The number of draws you will take

- How many copies of the card you need.

For example, if you are playing a game of Commander, with 35 lands in your deck, and you only have 2 lands in your opening hand, and feel that you won't be able to do anything without drawing 2 more lands by turn 4, then these numbers would be:

93 cards left in the deck

33 lands left in the deck

4 draw steps

need 2 lands

Whats Next will calculate a 44.6% likelihood of drawing 2 lands over the next 4 draws.

Note: the name of the card you type into the "Help! I need a ..." field, has no impact on the calculation, it is only there to make the explanation more intuitive.

To store commonly used configurations, long press any of the Preset buttons.

The app calculates probabilities using the Hypergeometric Probability Distribution.
