The Lion of the Forest in the Knowledge of the Companions, known simply as the Lion of the Forest, is a book written by Ibn Al-Atheer in which he tried to survey all the Companions (i.e. those who accompanied the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) and their translations. It contains 7554 translations. Ibn Al-Athir mentioned the rest of the sources he relied on, and said: “I added a group of the Companions who settled in Homs, from: (The History of Damascus), and from (Musnad Ahmad), and from (Footnotes to Comprehension), and from (Tabaqat Saad), especially women, and from (Poets of the Companions), who are below them: Ibn Sayyid al-Nas. I think that those in my book: They reach eight thousand souls, and most of them do not know. This book was summarized by the scholars, the sheikh, the jurist, Badr al-Din Muhammad ibn Abi Zakariya Yahya al-Qudsi al-Hanafi, the preacher. And he summarized it Also, Sadid al-Din Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Muhammad bin al-Rashid bin Ali al-Kashgari al-Hanafi, who died in the year 705 AH / 1305 CE. It was also abbreviated by Shams al-Din al-Dhahabi (673-748 AH / / 1274-1348 CE) and the name of this abbreviation is (Tareqq al-Nama’ al-Sahaba).
