Abdul Hadi bin Ahmed Kanakri was born in Damascus in 1956. He is a Syrian Qur’an reciter. He received the teaching of the Holy Qur’an as a child from his father, Ahmed Kanakri, a judge in Damascus, and read it to a number of scholars from the Levant. He joined the College of Islamic Studies at the University of the Levant and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Islamic studies and the Arabic language, then obtained a master’s degree in readings of the Holy Qur’an in 1980. He obtained a doctorate in Islamic studies and Qur’anic sciences from the Islamic University in Pakistan in 1985.

In 1985, the official radio station in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia asked him, based on the directives of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to record a complete conclusion of the Holy Qur’an, narrated by Hafs on the authority of Asim, to be broadcast on the Holy Qur’an Radio as part of its daily programmes. In 1980, he worked in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a teacher and professor of Qur’anic sciences in a number of Islamic universities in Riyadh, Dhahran, and others.

In 1990, he worked as head of the Department of Islamic and Arabic Studies and Qur’anic Sciences at the Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences in Dhahran until now.
