Control media playback on one Android device from another Android device.

This is the only reliable Android-to-Android remote control app on the Play Store. All the similar apps have various problems like disconnecting, not working when the screen goes off, or only working on older versions of Android.

INSTRUCTIONS:

First pair your two devices with Bluetooth.

Install and run A2A Media Remote on both devices. On the device which will be playing music, press "This Device is the Player". Then, within 15 seconds, press "This Device is the Remote" on the other device. After a few seconds you should see a message saying "Connected", and playback buttons will pop up on the remote control device.

You will also see a drop-down list of music player apps. Select the one you want to control. On the playback device, minimise A2A Media Remote (press the home key), open your playback app, and start it playing. You will then be able to control it from the other device.

ADDING APPS:

If the app you use for playback is not in the dropdown list, simply select "Custom 1" from the bottom of the list. Then go to the playback device, open A2A Media Remote, and from the menu in the top-right corner, select "Set custom app packages". In the space for Custom app 1, enter the package name of the app you want to control, and press OK. You should then be able to control the app, once it is open and playing.

You can use an app like Package Name Viewer to get the package name of the app you want to control. (You can also get an app's package name from it's Play Store URL - it is the ID parameter).
