Afghanistan, the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) youngest full member along with Ireland, launched its own Twenty20 league to be known as Afghanistan Premier League (APL T20).

The Afghanistan T20 Premier league will provide a valuable opportunity for Afghan players to play alongside major names like Shahid Afridi, Chris Gayle, Brendon Mccullum,

Ryan ten Doeschate, Rashid Khan etc.

The teams will be named after the five regions of Afghanistan namely Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Paktia and Balkh. It will be a 23 match event starting from 5 October. Players from Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand are playing for these teams.
