This chapter examines the concept of apocalyptic prophecy within the Hebrew Bible, arguing that it is a meaningful and helpful rubric. The world is moving so fast that we can't follow the pace with the news. You have a speed so powerful that you can overcome the others and even the most impressive tragedies are soon forgotten because other worse ones arise. Thus, we have lost the capacity for amazement and reaction to this daily increase in pain and suffering. The good news is that it will not happen forever because Dios, from his serenity, is in control of all things. It begins with a discussion of the apocalypse genre and apocalyptic literature before turning to some of the epistemological, theological, and even psychoanalytic issues at play in the debate over the propriety of the idea of apocalyptic prophecy.
