The Qur'an says:

"Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like Him." S. 112:1-4

Allah always has been, and always will be. His existence has neither beginning nor end. This name describes His attribute of having an eternal nature.
