The Qur'an says:

"Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like Him." S. 112:1-4

Allah always has been, and always will be. His existence has neither beginning nor end. This name describes His attribute of having an eternal nature. In Islam, this point is almost stressed as much as Allah's unity. For anyone who's done any level of study of the names and attributes of Allah, he quickly realizes that Allah is not only eternal, He is one. These two attributes are tied together.
