About Bagaka Radio Station

Bagaka Radio Station

The South African Radio landscape has been catering mainly to the youth as a primary segment, through youth programs, youth upliftment, and youth nurturing formats. Youth targeted in the current radio offerings ranges from the kind of music, the topics and competitions found in most radio shows which represent the current youth and culture; hence Bagaka Radio Station saw an opportunity to create a radio service which gives a voice to the “not so mainstream” (voiceless).

There are little realization and appreciation of the talent and experience that the former broadcasters possess. There is also a growing concern that the indigenous languages are gradually being faded out and/or marginalized. Bagaka Radio aims to broadcast programs that will enable listeners to realize the dream of preserving the indigenous languages, and motivate the staff and executive members to rebuild moral regeneration, as well as create well thought and carefully prepared programs. Bagaka Radio affirms its belief in the dialogue between communities, discussions between the listener and the service provider and dissemination of information to the affected communities.

Bagaka Radio Station is a community-based business that plans to do nothing more than to create a well-thought platform for the age group of thirty-five (35) years and above, serving the disadvan- taged individuals, with the hope that they receive information about the conditions and surround- ings in which they live in.

Bagaka Radio Station aims to target the currently marginalized age group 35 years old and above; by initiating conversations through topics that are current and relevant to the targeted segment such as religion, gender-based violence, pandemic attacks, family education, unemployment, human trafficking, abuse of substance/drugs, and academic enlightenment. Bagaka Radio Station is an Afro-centric space that infringingly prides itself in broadcasting in South African languages, which include the following languages, Setswana, xiTsonga, tshiVhenda, Sepedi and isiNdebele..

The station is Afrocentric and looks at moral degeneration and creating a space for the South African tradition and culture by encouraging citizens to “Talk Your Language”. Bagaka Radio Station is currently available as a Digital Broadcasting Audio on the BRS mobile Application.
