Basim Karbalaei was born in 1966 Basim Al-Karbalai is a Shia latmiyah reciter. He was born in the city of Karbala, Iraq in 1966 where he lived until 1980. During this time, he participated in processions in Karbala, which were held in mourning of Prophet Muhammad and Ahl al-Bayt , who Shias regard highly. He then moved and lived in Isfahan, Iran, where he began learning how to read Quran which helped soften and improve his voice.
