Basketball or basket ball, also known as "basketball". It is a team sports game invented in 1891 by Canadian Physical Education teacher James Naismit, at the Young Men's Christian Association in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. It is played by two teams of 12 players (5 on the field and 7 substitutes) whose objective is to pass the ball through a basket and prevent the ball from entering their basket placed at the ends of the court, either in a gym or outdoors.
