About Best DIY Monogram Mason Jar Candles

Try to create monogram mason jar by yourself by following these steps

We saw some adorable painted mason jars similar to these on Pinterest and wanted to make a monogrammed set for ourself. we knew that our Vinyl Decals and Vinyl Letters would work wonderfully for the project and we could order the exact sizes needed to fit the jars we purchased. Materials Needed: 3 mason jars, we're using the quart size Vinyl Monogram Letter, my M is 3″ tall and in the Rye font Vinyl Leaf Decals, I selected mine at 4″ tall Craft paint Foam paint brush Paper plate or paint tray Sand paper Scissors Spray on clear coat Fall decorations such as raffia, leaves, pine-cones and acorns Popcorn kernels Candles Gather Your Materials You will also need a well ventilated area to apply the clear coat in. If you are not using squeaky clean and brand new jars, be sure to wipe them down with rubbing alcohol first otherwise the paint will not stick. Remove the Backing Remove the thick card-stock like backing from the decals. The decal itself will stay adhered to the thinner masking and the sticky backside will be exposed. Apply the Decal Place the decal onto the jar and press it firmly in place. Peel off the Masking Peel off the masking to reveal the decal. Decals Applied Here are the decals applied to my three jars. Paint Use the craft paint and foam brush to coat the outside of the jars. This took me at least three coats. Done Painting Here is how the painted jars look. Remove the Decals Remove the decals to expose the clean glass. Now, let the paint dry overnight, if you don't wait the paint will not be cured and won't stick well to the surface. Rustic Finish we wanted our jars to have a rustic look to them so I used sandpaper to distress the paint. Clear Coat Apply a clear coat to the outside of the jars. I chose a matte finish to make the paint look like chalk paint. Keep in mind this will also make the glass look frosted. Filler Since I wanted the candles to sit up a little higher, I filled the jars up about 1/4 of the way with popcorn. You could also use beans or pebbles. Insert Candles Place your candles into the jars. Decorate Use raffia, decorative wire, leaves and other fall items to decorate the opening of the jars. Use the scissors to trim the pieces to size. Ready Here are the decorations I ended up going with. Done! Light, display and enjoy!
