The app BT Coach is designed to support the home practicing exposure and response prevention (ERP) in the treatment of tics and Tourette.
During this behavioral learning clients with a tic disorder to suppress their tics as long as possible (= response prevention), while attention remains focused on the unpleasant sensations that precede the tics (= exposure).
In this way, the client can get used to the reduction with sensations of tics as a result.
The app takes during homework exercises on the coaching role of the therapist; when there is a tic is reflected, the client is stimulated to suppress the tics even longer, the next time and, if working on new records.
