He was born in Koto Tangah, Payakumbuh, West Sumatra, on April 21, 1986 to Nur Akmal bin M Nur and Asni bint Sahar.

Ustaz Razi studied SD to MTsN in Tanah Minangkabau to be precise in Payakumbuh, then moved to Bukittinggi to continue his education at MAN/MAKN 2 Bukittinggi in 2002-2004.
