Campos de Castilla, is the main work of Antonio Machado. It is made between 1907 and 1917, and has 2 different parts.

The first, 1907 - 1912, is characterized by a deep love of nature, and is an emotional lyrical description, because the author makes us share in his heartbeat in the Soriana land, taking us through each of its corners.

Equally the poet shares his existentialist concerns and finally the pain for the beloved "Leonor Izquierdo", who will know the publication of his work a few days before dying:

"Sir, you already pulled out what I wanted most.

Hey again, my God, my heart cry out.

Your will was made, Lord, against mine.

Mister, we're already alone my heart and the sea"

The second part (1912 - 1917), once the beloved wife is dead, is characterized by melancholy and philosophical meditations, where the poet finds relief in part from the sadness of adversity.

Campos de Castilla is a work rich in contents and themes, since it deals with everything from the landscape, to concerns about Spain, from Castile, to memory and melancholy.
