Cape Town Television (CTV) is a non-profit community television service

Cape Town Television (CTV) is a non-profit organization established as a community television service to serve the greater Cape Town metropolitan region.

CTV was founded by over 100 non-profit organisations in 2006 and is committed to providing community access to the powerful medium of television as a tool to promote human rights and social justice.

CTV was granted a community television license by ICASA in April 2008 and started broadcasting in September 2008. The channel has a one-year broadcast license from ICASA which is the maximum possible under the existing legislation. This will be renewed at the expiry of the license period in August 2009.

The broadcast will initially make use of a single analogue transmitter based at Sentech's Tygerberg site, which will provide coverage to most of the Cape Town metropolitan area. This includes all the areas that lie between the City Bowl, Muizenberg, Gordon’s Bay, Somerset West and Atlantis.
