Diploma Game

A mobile application for full-time students.

A mobile application for full-time students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences at the Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU) in Toruń.

The Diploma Game functions as a student assistant. The app has been designed to monitor the student’s current situation and help them in their educational journey. Data concerning the student’s current situation is retrieved from the USOS system.

The app allows you to collect badges for passing certain subjects and compare your achievements with those of other app users.

The student shall log into the application via the Central Authentication Service (CAS).

The application comprises the following modules:

Profile: This module contains basic information about the student, downloaded from the USOS system. In this module, you can change your name to a nickname and set a profile picture. The module shows your current academic stage in the progress bar, the percentage of ECTS credits earned and the number of months left to complete the degree. This module also includes statistics on passed semesters and courses, as well as badges earned.

Study map: Students can see where they are on their respective paths to graduation. The timeline includes events, resulting from the organisation of the academic year. The student has the opportunity to analyse their educational route according to the timetable and, when complications arise, from the beginning of the study until its completion.

Rankings: Students can see their position against other app users according to the number of badges and points earned. A faculty and yearbook ranking view is available in the app.

Simulations: The module analyses different study options with suggestions on what documents need to be submitted and by what deadline to graduate. The simulations show students where they are and the available options. Once a specific path has been selected, a message appears regarding the consequences of the decision.

List of Tasks: The module allows students to add tasks for themselves and set reminders. Tasks entered in the Calendar are also visible in the module.

Calendar: The module displays events related to the academic year and information from the student’s list of tasks.

Reminders: This module is linked to the List of Tasks and Calendar. The app sends the student a notification when an event or task deadline is near.

NCU facilities locations: The module allows students to locate both NCU and other facilities useful to them using commercially available applications. The facilities have been divided into different categories and marked on the map.

Personal Development and Support: The module redirects students to the university’s Personal Development and Support Centre website.

The application is continuously being developed and improved. The Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences at NCU is open to all suggestions from users.

The NCU account (the so-called CAS account) is required to use the application correctly.

The Diploma Game is available in Polish and English.

The application works in two themes: light and dark.

The Diploma Game mobile application is the property of the NCU in Toruń. It was created as part of the project “Universitas Copernicana Thoruniensis In Futuro II – modernisation of the NCU within the framework of the Integrated University Programme”, co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund. The project will run from 2019 to 2023.
