Vesak or Waisaka (Pali; Sanskrit: Vaiśākha वैशाख) is a Buddhist holy day. Vesak Day, also known as Visakah Puja or Buddha Purnima in India, Saga Dawa in Tibet, Vesak in Malaysia, and Singapore, Visakha Bucha in Thailand, and Vesak in Sri Lanka. The name is derived from the Pali "Wesakha", which in turn is also associated with "Waishakha" from Sanskrit. [1] In some places referred to as "the Buddha".
