Ecoplan Gent

*Was* Open data / offline app of nearby fairtrade/bio/eco etc shops in Gent.

This app was an end-of-term project that I try to keep floating because I think it still has some value, but without updated data, mainly due to lack of long term support from the city of Ghent, but also due to strategic changes decided by the city.

Here is how the app was promoted:

Ecoplan Gent helps you find shops, restaurants and service providers in Gent that focus on fair trade and bio products, reuse of materials or regional produce, ecology and social measures… All these businesses are marked as Ecopoints on the map. One can search for specific labels (currently Dutch only, but it should be manageable) (fairtrade, bio, ecovriendelijk, vegetarisch, …) or categories (Dutch, bit more difficult) (wereldwinkel, eet- en drankgelegenheden, kledingswinkel, …) and the app will show where to find these shops.

The app uses Open Data that is available at http://data.gent.be/datasets/ecoplan. Internet access is not required as the data is copied to a local database. The data is updated regularly by the association supporting the Ecoplan Gent .

To update the data as well as refresh the google maps, you need Internet access.
