The Egyptian dental syndicate is considered to be the oldest dental syndicate in the Middle East and Africa. The syndicate establishment law was issued in 1940 and the first board was elected on january 16th,1942 with Dr. Amin (Bek) Maher as its elected president. In 1948 the law was modified and the first general assembly elected president Dr. Mahmoud Mourad Samy.

At first, there was only one school of dentistry, King Fouad Universty (later to be cairo university). Now, there are many faculties of dentistry and oral medicine containing the whole branches of dentistry. Faculty graduates are then licensed by the egyptian Ministry of health and then are able to join the synidicate.

In 2015, Egypt and the Egyptian Dental Syndicate have over 50000 dentists enrolled as members with more than 20% of them having got Master's and a phD in different branches of dentistry and oral medicine.

There are 15000 dental clinics and hospitals registered in the syndicate and licensed from the Ministry of Health. These whole dental clinics and hospitals are under the complete control of both the Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Dental Syndicate which are established with the most modern dental tools and supplies.
