Get Ekadashi Reminder old version APK for Android
Minimal app to track Shuddha Ekadashi Vratas and notify the next fasting day
Note: Smartha Ekadashis are not supported ! Only Vaishnava Ekadashis are supported ! This means that it is not regular Hindu calendar and it is not displaying regular Hindu panchanga.
This mini Ekadashi Calendar calculates data of the next Ekadashi vrata for given location: 1) begin time and 2) the period of breaking the fasting. Also it sends notification about the next fasting day.
This app calculates only Vaishnava (or Bhagavata) Ekadashi which are Shuddha (or pure): an observance is based on the rule that Dashami or the tenth day during a lunar fortnight should have ended before Arunodaya (96 minutes period before sunrise on the Ekadashi or the 11th day in a lunar fortnight).
Current functionality:
★1) configurable program notifications in the system status bar
★2) main screen with:
-- the date of the next Shuddha Ekadashi fasting
-- the period of breaking the fasting
-- description of Ekadasi
★3) Daylight Saving Time (Summer Time) support for Europe, USA and Australia
★4) To enter a current location, it is available to use:
-- manual entry of coordinates
-- built-in database of 4,000 cities to select 'Current location'
-- when turning on the Internet, entering the first letters of the locality in any language
★5) follows the rules given by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura in His "Shri Navadwipa Panjika" to cultivate Sri Harinam Kirtan worldwide. "Sri Navadvip Panjika" was designed according to Vaisnava Smriti - "Śrī Hari-bhakti-vilāsa" (by Sanātana Gosvāmī").
★6) full support for ISKCON:
Both algorithms of calculating have been implemented:
-- a) using Mayapur city (near Navadvipa, West Bengal, India)
-- b) using the 'Current location'
This means that the calendar implements both standards of ISKCON: before 1990 and after 1990. The first original standard was established by Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and it was widely used in ISKCON from the beginning to year 1990. This standard uses Shri Mayapur as the location for calculating the day, when Vaishnava events are celebrated all around the world. In 1990 the second standard was proposed: instead of using Shri Mayapur it was advised to use current location.
Notes: Dates, calculated with using 'Current location' option (i.e. using alternative algorithm) correspond with current ISKCON calendar - "Gcal 2011" (Gaurabda Calendar written by Gopalapriya prabhu from ISKCON Bratislava).
★7) selectable value of Horizon parameter:
-- a) use Celestial (Astronomical, True) horizon
-- b) use Earth-sky (Visible, Local) horizon
★8) configurable value of Ayanāṃśaḥ
★10) multi language support: Hindi, Bengali, English, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Dutch, Russian, Hungarian
