Enderman was replaced first by machine overlords. He is not considered a boss, but more dangerous than most natural spawning monsters. If you are looking for a new challenge in your world, you can defeat Enderman's robot.

Enderman Robot is a more powerful mob than its predecessor, since it has more health (50 full hearts) and deals more damage from attacks.

Kill Enderman's robot is very difficult, but for him you will receive an excellent reward. It can drop such things as iron bars and Robot Pearls. Robot Pearl has basically the same functionality as Ender Pearl. The only difference is that when cast, he is not subject to gravity.
