Socially Responsible, Ethical and Fair Trade Fashion

My name Is Efrat Rapoport. A few years ago I discovered the concept of "Fair Trade" - a worldwide movement in which people ask and demand to know whether or not what they eat, wear and buy was produced in an ethical way. Ettica imports high quality clothes and accessories which were manufactured in a socially responsible way and follow fair trade principles. Ettica is meant for those who want to know where their clothes came from and who made them, and for those who want to make sure what they wear is free from exploitation.

I personally select and closely inspect all the items I choose to import, in order to make sure they meet our social standards. Of all the exciting projects I got to know in the past months, I chose to begin with a wonderful project which I call "PROJECT SCARF". This project, which is currently offered for sale on our website, supports weavers in India and works towards making handloom a profitable, fulfilling, sustainable and life-improving activity. The women, who are also provided with various educational and medical services, weave intricate hand-made scarves.

The women who are part of this project also actively participate in decision making and business management. The board - in which the women take an active part - is responsible for making decisions on issues such as wages, training, appointing new weavers, social security programs and more. The board meets at least once per month; each meeting takes place in a different village on a rotation basis.
