The Flatiron building is located in Manhattan, New York, in the United States and is considered a major groundbreaking skyscraper at the time of its construction. Upon its completion in 1902, it became one of the tallest buildings in the city, located north of 14th street. The building is triangular in architecture at the junction of Broadway and East 22nd and 23rd streets. Because it looks like an iron, it is called Flatiron, which means this in English.

Following the construction of the Flatiron Building, it was chosen as New York's iconic architecture in 1966. The building was added to the National List of Historic Buildings in 1979 and was recognized as a National Monument of Historical Significance in 1989.

Amos Eno purchased the area where the Flatiron building is located in 1857 for around US$ 30,000. Eno has resisted those who want to buy this place throughout his life. But after his death in 1899, his assets were liquidated, and many of them were put up for auction. It was purchased at auction by William Eno, son of Amos, for US$690,000. Three weeks after this event, William sold it to Samuel Newhouse, the owner of Mort Newhouse, for $801,000. Samuel wanted to build a twelve-story building with retail stores and flats here and prepared his plans. However, two years later, the company sold it to the Fuller Company investment trust created by Harry S. Black for just over two million dollars. The Fuller company specialized in skyscraper construction as a general contractor.

The Flatiron building was considered a reactionary style at the time. Motifs that are a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance motifs are used on the façade of the building. This trend continued until the end of the nineteenth century, with the construction of the Woolworth building and then the Flatiron building. Due to its non-traditional design, the building is considered quite successful compared to the irregular settlement. The part of the triangular pyramid, which is the front of the building and faces the street, has been made round. In addition, the twenty-second floor, which is the last floor of the building, consists of three sections in the form of a Greek column.

The Flatiron building is one of the first examples of buildings made using a steel skeleton in its construction history. Steel was used in bridge construction in those years. The expertise in the use of steel in this building stems from its narrowing at an angle of 25 degrees from the ground to the top.
