The Prostate cancer Research International Active Surveillance study (MyPSA)

The MyPSA app is developed by researchers from the department of Urology, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Ydeal.net. The MyPSA app is designed for patients on active surveillance who wish to be actively involved in their disease process. It provides men with the opportunity to monitor their prostate specific antigen (PSA), manage their appointments, and amongst others, find further information about prostate cancer. The researchers from the department of Urology, Erasmus MC have gained tremendous knowledge on active surveillance for low-risk prostate cancer, by initiating the Prostate cancer Research International Active Surveillance study (PRIAS) in 2006. PRIAS is an international, multi-center, web-based, observational study which includes over 6,500 patients from 25 countries. Published results from the PRIAS study have led to the acceptance of active surveillance as an effective and safe treatment strategy for men with low-risk, localized prostate cancer and the inclusion of this strategy in national and international guidelines on the treatment of prostate cancer.
