The Foodfully app empowers anyone who buys food to reduce their household food waste. Up to 25% of what we buy at the store gets thrown out at home. Much of the reason food gets thrown away is because we’ve forgotten about it, or we aren’t sure how to cook items we bought. Foodfully is working to provide solutions to these common snags preventing us from enjoying our food while it is at its freshest and most nutritious.

Link food purchases and view items

Foodfully links easily with over 14 different grocery store loyalty cards, so every time a purchase is made with a user’s loyalty card, it is recorded in the app. Foodfully can also scan photos of receipts and accept manually-entered items if a user does not have a loyalty card at a supported store. Users can see their items in the Fridge and move items into the freezer, bulk delete, and record if a food was thrown away or eaten by hand.

Get notified

Items are displayed in the Fridge and arranged by more perishable items near the top of the list. A user receives notifications before these items may go bad, so that they do not forget about their food.

Learn new flavors and recipes

Food stored in the Fridge and user preferences guide suggested recipes and tips in the Stove. Users can see recipes that use items from their Fridge, search for recipes based on ingredient or meal type. Users can also see cooking and serving tips if they are looking for inspiration rather than instruction. This way, users know how to cook or prepare foods so that four bulbs of fennel start looking less like a headache and more like an opportunity. Foodfully easily deletes items used in the recipe preparation from the Fridge to streamline food management.

Track waste and find waste resources

Foodfully wants to help eliminate household food waste, and it’s hard to change what isn’t measured. Foodfully gives metrics on what gets purchased, what gets eaten, how nutritious shopping trips are, and percentage of purchases wasted. Foodfully will also introduce resources to help users waste less over time with games and quizzes. Finally, Foodfully will work to clue users in to local resources combating food waste, like local food banks or food recovery organizations.
