GhostNav: Black Country Ghosts

Over 160 Ghost stories, photographs & map entries from the English West Midlands

Over 160 haunted locations in and around the Black Country are contained in this edition of GhostNav. The Black Country has never been an accurately defined area and so whilst most of the locations are most definitely 'Black Country' we have also included some interesting stories from a little further afield.

However, please note that this app covers the Black Country in the English West Midlands only! Further editions of GhostNav are planned which will include other areas.

All of the locations are accurately pinpointed on Google Maps and you can search by a specific area, search nearby if you are in the Black Country and also search by location names. You can use GhostNav to create your own ghost walks in areas such as Dudley where there are a number of stories in a relatively small area. The stories and photographs can also be accessed directly from the map by simply touching the ghost pins. Touching any of the photographs will bring up a larger view.

From the Settings menu you can adjust the font size to be Normal or Large. Distances can be set to be in Miles or Kilometres and you can also change the Search Nearby range from the default 2 miles. Results of sorts and searches may be displayed in either List or Map view. From any of the entries you can tap Google Map in order to be able to navigate directly to the location using the Google Maps app.

You will find a host of different types of locations in GhostNav. Haunted houses, castles, pubs, hotels and many more have been carefully researched and mapped. Please do take care if you plan on visiting any of these haunted locations and be respectful of both people and places. Very few are private homes but those that are would probably not welcome unwanted intrusion. The vast majority can be visited but bear in mind some may charge an admission fee if the hauntings are on a castle or museum site for example. Pubs of course may be visited during opening hours for the price of a drink!
