Surah Al-Muthaffifin (Arabic: الْمُطَفِّفينَ, Al-Muthaffifin, Cheating) is the 83rd surah based on the composition of the Mushaf and the 86th Surah according to the order of the revelation of the Koran. This surah was named Al-Muthaffifin because this word was used at the beginning of the surah. In terms of contents including one of the Al-Mufasshalat suras. In the first and third paragraphs this surah is related to fiqh law fraudulent actions and reducing scales and violating the rights of many people in transactions that have been forbidden and included as major sins.

This Surah is also referred to as Surah Al-Tathfif because it is a derivative of the word Al-Muthaffifin. Muthaffifin is the word perpetrator and the plural form of the word muthaffif. The functional word is taken from the word thaf.

In the first and third paragraphs this surah is related to fiqh law fraudulent actions and reducing scales and violating the rights of many people in transactions that have been forbidden and included as major sins. This Surah also describes the Day of Judgment and the condition of the Day of Resurrection, the Hereafter. In addition, by introducing two groups namely the abrar and muqarribin groups, and fujjar and mujrimin, this surah alludes to the mockery of the infidels towards believers in this world. And on the contrary in the hereafter, believers laugh at the unbelievers. [1]

It is derived from the very first verse; Wayl-ul-lil mutaffifin.

This Surah has 36 verses and resides between pages 587 to 589 in the Quran.

The theme of this Surah too is the Hereafter. In the first six verses the people have taken to do evil practice in their commercial dealings. When they have received their due from others, they are demanded that it is given full, but when they have to measure or weigh for others, they will be less than what was due. Taking this evil example prevalent in society, it has been said that it is an inevitable result of the heedlessness of the Hereafter. Unless the people realized that they would have to appear before God and their account had been performed in the world, it was not possible to adopt their righteousness in their daily affairs. "Honest is the best policy," he would never practice honesty on occasions when the dish would seem to be "the best policy". Man can develop true and enduring God and sincerely believes in the Hereafter, then he would regard honesty not only as "a policy" but as "a duty" and obligation, and his being constant in it or otherwise , would not be dependent on being useful or useless in the world.

Thus, after making explicit the morality and doctrine of the Hereafter in an effective and impressive way, in vv. 7-17, it has been said: The deeds of the list are already listed in the black list of the culprits, and in the Hereafter they will meet with utter ruin. Then in vv. 18-28, the best that has been described and has been laid that their deeds are being recorded in the list of exalted people, on which are appointed the angels nearest to God.

In the conclusion, the believers have, and the disbelievers warned, as if to say: "The people who are disgracing and humiliating the believers today, are culprits who, on the Resurrection Day, will meet with the most evil end in consequence of their conduct, and these are very believers when they see their fate. "
