Explains everything about Hajj & Umrah, a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia
Hajj & Umrah Guide app is a guide that explains everything with regard to the Hajj & Umrah, a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The Umrah is a non-compulsory (but highly recommended) pilgrimage that can be undertaken at any time of the year.
This app will guide you through detailed pics of the holy mosque in Mecca and will show you how to perform the Umrah rituals. The rituals are depicted and explained for both women and men in an easy step by step format. Everything from assuming the sacred state of Ihraam to Sa’iy is explained in fine detail.
Umrah rituals explained within the app:
• How and when to enter the state of Ihraam.
• Prohibitions of Ihraam.
•How to perform Tawaaf.
•How to perform Sa’iy.
The pilgrim performs a series of ritual acts symbolic of the lives of Ibrahim (Abraham) and his second wife Hajar, and of solidarity with Muslims worldwide. These acts of faith are:
Perform a tawaf "طواف", which consists of circling the Kaaba seven times in an anticlockwise direction. Men are encouraged to do this three times at a hurried pace, followed by four times, more closely, at a leisurely pace.[1]
Perform a sa'i "سعي", which means rapidly walking seven times back and forth between the hills of Safa and Marwah. This is a re-enactment of Hajar's frantic search for water. The baby Ishmael cried and hit the ground with his foot (some versions of the story say that an angel scraped his foot or the tip of his wing along the ground), and water miraculously sprang forth. This source of water is today called the Well of Zamzam.
Perform a halq or taqsir, meaning a shaving of the hair. A taqsir is a partial shortening of the hair typically reserved for women who cut a minimum of one inch or more of their hair. A halq is a complete shave of the head, usually performed on men. Both of these signify the submission of will to God over glorifying physical appearances. The head shaving/cutting is reserved until the end of Umrah.
The Hajj (/hædʒ/;[1] Arabic: حَجّ Ḥaǧǧ "pilgrimage"; sometimes also spelt Hadj, Hadji or Haj in English) is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca (Makkah), Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. It is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adult Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence.
The literal meaning of the word Hajj is "heading to a place for the sake of visiting". In Islamic terminology, Hajj is a pilgrimage made to the Kaaba (Ka'aba / Kaba), the "House of Allah", in the sacred city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The rites of Hajj are performed over five or six days, beginning on the eighth and ending on the thirteenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. It is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, alongside Shahadah, Salat (Salah / Namaz / Salaah / Salaat), Zakat and Sawm (Roza / Rozah).
