This little book is the result of our interview with KH. Abdul Muchith Muzadi. We were mandated by the caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, KH. Salahuddin Wahid to meet Kiai Muchith at his residence Jl. Kalimantan 24 Jember, next to the Sunan Kalijogo Mosque. Thank God, we managed to interview him on Saturday, 3 Sha'ban 1430 AH or 25 July 2009 AD, for approximately three hours starting in the morning and afternoon. Gus Solah told us because at the suggestion of the chairman of PBNU, KH. Hasyim Muzadi, who is none other than Kiai Muchith's younger brother, to dig up all the history of Kiai Hasyim Asy'ari and Tebuireng from direct historical witnesses.

Even though it is very small and simple, this book is very valuable. Because it is a historical recording that few people know about. Hopefully this book will not reduce its value and benefits for the NU generation, the successors of the ulama's struggle and for students and alumni of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in general.

This book, which is in the form of a testimony from one of Kiai Hasyim's students, can give us a lot of information about his leadership.

In this book, Kiai Muchith describes how consistent Hadratus Sheikh was in teaching and praying in congregation.

He also painstakingly educates students. Has great concern for the progress and independence of his students.

It also explains how sincere the founders of NU were. At that time, NU administrators used NU to fight to build religion and the nation, not for material or political interests. Sincerity is truly the spirit of NU's struggle, something that is now starting to fade.

Hopefully the material content of this application can be useful for self-introspection and better improvement in everyday life.
