About HelpMe

With a single click a friend can find your location on Google Maps.

DISCLAIMER: Never use this application as a substitute for calling the real emergency services from your country, by dialing 911, 112, etc.

Telling your location to a friend is always a challenge if you are in an unfamiliar or crowded place. Similar, a flat tire in the middle of nowhere might leave you out of options, especially if you cannot call a towing company. You need a quick way to retrieve your geolocation and send it as a web link to someone you trust. Then, with a simple click, you will be located on Google Maps.

A double question mark in the first screen means that the application could not retrieve either the GPS location (higher precision) or the network location (lower precision). Please make sure that the location service is enabled on your device and then refresh the screen (from options menu). As soon as any location info is available, it will be displayed on the screen.

By pressing the Send button, you will be prompted to select the emergency level: 1) sending a simple notification to a single friend; 2) sending an emergency request to a list of recipients. It is always a good practice to let each recipient know that he/she might receive an emergency request from you, before sending the actual request.

A non-emergency level means sending a notification to a single user (selected from the latest calls list). The notification SMS contains the Google Map link for your location.

An emergency notification will send a similar link to a list of designated recipients, specified in your settings page. After sending the request, you can watch the status report, i.e. the status of each SMS sent to individual recipient.

In the Settings panel you can specify a) your name; b) a mechanism for mobile phone number detection (for instance, in Romania, all phone numbers starting with 07 are assigned to mobile phones. Here only mobile phones can receive a SMS); c) a list with recipients for emergency messages; d) the actual emergency message sent (use the marker __your_name__ to include your name in the message). The geolocation link is automatically appended at the end of the emergency message.
