I used to hate these kids, until one smart friend of mine (who went to some charter school) pulled me aside and taught me a few things.

1. Speed read This can be kind of difficult to get a hang of, what you need to do is quit pronouncing words in your head while you read them, and quit back checking, you will do this without noticing so be careful. To do this take your finger and go through a line by running your finger along, make your eyes follow and read, but do not go backwards or go slowly, you will notice your brain will take care of the difference.

2. Memory techniques There are many of these but I will go over a big one, use associations to make yourself remember something. This works rather well and gets me through any definitions in my tests.

3. Flash cards This does not need much explanation, this one takes some work but is well worth it.

4. learn how to study smart This is a bit of the above, learn how to tell what your teacher will test on, do not just study what you already know, this never works but I do it often. Try to study a little daily, not the night before a test. Outline things a teacher tells you is important.

5. Friends I get stuck on subjects all the time. If I do I call up a bud who is good at the subject. If I do not have one I go to the class the next day and become buds with the guy who is acing the class. This works wonders.
