ترجمة صاحب الكتاب : محمود مهدي الإستانبولي (١٣٢٧ - ١٤٢٠ هـ) هو عالم وباحث وتربوي، صاحب كتاب «تحفة العروس».

ولد بدمشق ودرس العلوم الإسلامية. أخذ عن محمد ناصر الدين الألباني وعبد الفتاح الإمام. قال عنه الشيخ علي الطنطاوي: «إنه من أركان التربية في بلده».
