Al-Shafi’i defined jurisprudence with the well-known definition after him among scholars as: “knowledge of practical legal rulings gained from their detailed evidence.” In the terminology of the scholars of jurisprudence: “Knowledge of the legal rulings acquired from their detailed evidence.” According to the later scholars, it is called the science of jurisprudence, and it is called in the later ages of Islamic history specifically with the branches, and the jurist who is knowledgeable in jurisprudence, and according to the scholars of the principles of jurisprudence he is the mujtahid. Jurisprudence has an important place in Islam, as the legal texts indicate its virtue and the necessity of understanding the religion. Iraq, the Levant, Yemen and Egypt, and the four schools of jurisprudence were summarized from them. Jurisprudence was the beginning of Islamic history called knowledge of legal rulings in general, and after the development of jurisprudence studies and scientific research and the development and codification of sciences, the jurisprudence studies included: the origins, branches, rules, history of study, schools of jurisprudence, entrances to schools, ranks of jurists, ranks of ijtihad and others. Jurisprudence in its idiomatic sense has become called: the science of the branches of jurisprudence, which is one of the types of forensic sciences, which is: “the knowledge of practical legal rulings derived from their detailed evidence.”
