Upendo Nkone's musical career began when she joined KGWC choir in Kigoma, Tanzania. She then moved to Dar es Salaam where she joined Dovya Gospel Singers . In 2009 she released her first album Jina la Mungu Baba. Through the album she was able to garner attention in the gospel music industry fraternity. After the success of her debut album she released a second album Hapa Nilipo.
