Shri Annapoorna Stotram is composed by Adi Shankaracharya to praise and invoke the grace of Mother Goddess Annapurneswari. Anna means food and grains, while the meaning of purna is full, complete, and perfect. Annapoorna is the Goddess of Nourishment, She who is full, complete, and perfect with food and grains. When Mother Annapoorna is worshiped, She blesses her children with nourishment beyond the gross material things we desire. She blesses us with the attainment of perfection in wisdom and renunciation. The wisdom Mother gives is the understanding that “Giving” is the true spirituality. She teaches that renunciation will allow us to remain in equanimity in all of life’s circumstances.
