Find and save ideas about chopper motorcycle

Motorcycle often called a bike, motorbike, or cycle is a two or three wheeled motor vehicle. Motorcycle design varies greatly to suit a range of different purposes: long distance travel, commuting, cruising, sports including racing, and off-road riding. Motorcycling is riding a motorcycle and related social activities such as joining a motorcycle club and attending motorcycle rallies.

Street bikes include cruisers, sports bikes, scooters and mopeds, and many other types. Off-road motorcycles include many types designed for dirt-oriented racing classes such as motocross and are not street legal in most areas. Dual-purpose machines like the dual-sport style are made to go off-road but include features to make them legal and comfortable on the street as well. The configuration offers either specialization advantage or broad capability, and each design creates a different riding posture.

The chopper is a type of custom motorcycle that emerged in the world in the late 1950s. The chopper is perhaps the most extreme of all custom styles, often using radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. They can be built from an original motorcycle that is modified or built from scratch. Some of the characteristic features of choppers are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with increased rake angle, hardtail frames without rear suspension, very tall or very short handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheels. The set of tubes that connect the rear fender with the frame, and which are often extended several feet high, is a signature feature on many choppers.

The chopper motorcycle consists of a modified form of the original frame and only the most essential motorcycle parts to make it go at faster. Basically anything unnecessary to moving or stopping gets chopped up and some of the original parts are replaced with custom parts. Then the engine and transmission are removed and the factory frame is cut and welded back together to make it lower and lighter. Performance parts can be added or changed to increase speed. Styling includes a roughly 45-degree angle front fork, shiny chrome detailing and other features unique to the bike's owner such custom paint designs. The overall appearance and performance make choppers distinctly different from factory motorcycles. The chopper is also more difficult to turn than a factory bike.

There are three main types of motorcycle, off-road, and dual purpose. Within these types, there are many sub-types of motorcycles for different purposes. There are often racing counterparts for each type, such as road racing and street bikes, or motocross and dirt bikes.

Before we expand on choppers and bobbers, you should first know a bit about the traditional motorcycle. The motorcycle is a two-wheeled, single-track motor vehicle. It is one of the most affordable forms of motorized transport in the world. The motorcycle is typically manufactured in a factory and has a standard steel or aluminum frame with forks holding the front wheel. It contains a motor and a whole array of components such as brakes, fenders, and transmission and exhaust systems.
