Cuckoo ( Cuculus ) is the central and one of the most widely represented genera of birds in the cuckoo family. Distributed in the eastern hemisphere with an especially large variety of species known in tropical Asia. These are small and medium-sized cuckoos which have an elegant physique long pointed wings a long tail and a short slightly curved beak. The tail is rounded or stepped in the second case sometimes they speak of an independent hawk-cuckoo family ( Hierococcyx ). The nares have a rounded shape surrounded by horny ridges.
