Shri Hari Om Sharan was born in Lahore on September 26, 1932. His family later migrated to India in 1947, after the Partition of India. He was drawn to devotional singing at a very tender age. He became famous as one of the most popular Bhajan singers in India and throughout the world. In 1973 he became a professional singer, making his very first album.

He went on to make numerous Bhajan albums throughout his singing career. During one of his earlier trips to Guyana he met his beautiful wife Nandini. This singing duo mesmerized their audiences during their many concerts with their renditions of many soul-stirring Bhajans, most of which were composed by Hari Om Sharan himself.
