Denmark has two official national anthems. For the birthdays of the royal family, we play the hymn entitled Kong Kristian stod ved højen mast (King Christian stood at the foot of the high mast), to the glory of the heroes of the wars of old, whose words were written by Johannes Ewald in 1779.
