"Be the observer of your mind" is a common recommendation by mindfulness and spiritual teachers.

In meditation, thoughts arise all the time. Rather than fight them or lose yourself in them, you can simply notice them. Then, you are the thinker, not your thoughts, and you can let your thoughts float away in the breeze...

Thought Breeze Meditation lets you practice just that. Sit comfortably and start a meditation session. Every time you have a thought, shake your device gently or tap the thought button. No need to look at the screen.

At the end of the meditation session, you'll see some statistics (number of thoughts, session duration, average time between two thoughts). Those are just for fun. There are no good and bad results. If you had many thoughts, it's not a bad thing. It means that you were good at noticing them.
