Zupan, which became the basic garments of in the 16th century, shows the influence it tightly fits the waist and conically widens downwards, clipped with knobs and loops, with the right part of the front overlapping the left one, as it takes place in this world.

To emphasize their uniqueness developed their own original national costume.

The woman's costume includes a white blouse, a vest that is embroidered and beaded on front and back, a floral full skirt, an apron, a red coral bead necklace, and lace-up boots. Unmarried women and girls may wear a flower wreath with ribbons while married women wear a white kerchief on their head. The men wear a blue waistcoat with embroidery and tassels, striped trousers, a cap ornamented with ribbons and peacock feathers and metal rings attached to the belt.

Zupan sleeves were wide to the elbows and strongly narrowed toward the palms, till the decorative cuff called dog’s ear overlapping the palms. Zupan was most often crafted from the crimson sateen or damask. Luxurious zupans were made from silk, everyday-used ones– from the wool. Later, when became the basic garment, for the economical reason the back of Zupan was sometimes made from cheaper textiles, and often pursued to fit the varying size of the owner. The length of Zupan, till the ankle in the time of Wien battle, in the 18th century reached the knees only. The generally known element of the national costume is kontush. It appeared I fashion in the second half of 17th .Its origin is unknown – it is hard to say if originated to satisfy the taste of nobility.

There is no any counterpart in fashion. Kontush can be characterized by a specific cut. It is a kind of tight fitting suit from the arms till the waist, widened downwards and cut at the whole length. The most interesting is the back cut. From the arms till the lower end there is one uncut rectangular piece of material called the pillar. Down the waist, there are two symmetric conical gores fastened to de pillar giving wide, bell-bottomed shape. The sleeves of the kontush were also very characteristic. Narrowed towards the palms, they were cut initially at the ends and later along almost the whole length to show the sleeves of zupan worn behind the kontush.

Textile designs inspired beautiful decoration of nobility clothes can be directly adopted in the modern fashion as a decorative, stylish and elegant shawl or neckerchief. It can be also used in designing the narrow goods like passions or other tapes used in upholstery, or other kinds of finishing goods. The type of composition of ornament it represents can be used also in some other types of decorative fabrics. one can see the kontush sash-inspired the fabric used as the cover of frames in the folding screen.

The same concerns the colored and picturesque fabrics representing the wide variety of patterns used for zupans.
