The Arabic Language and Science Committee established dictation rules, and the committee adopted the following principles in establishing these rules:

2. Striving for unity of rules throughout the Arab world, especially those relating to dictation rules in school textbooks.

3. Adopt common terminology in the dictation book, and when new terms are introduced, they are placed in brackets next to the old terms.

4. Facilitate the introduction of spelling rules, and as far as possible avoid explanations of grammar and morphology.

After the Council of the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus discussed and approved these regulations, they were submitted to the eighth conference of the Academy in 2009, amending the regulations based on comments from the two conferences, and became the final form of the regulations.
