Koi (鯉, English / ˈkɔɪ /, Japanese: [koꜜi]) or specifically koi comes from Japanese which means carp. More specifically, it refers to the nishikigoi (錦鯉, English / ˈ [unsupported input] /), which is more or less meaningful, carp which is embroidered with gold or silver. In Japan, koi become a symbol of love and friendship. This is because koi is a homophon for other words which also means love or love. Koi fish is a type of fish that includes carp (Cyprinus carpio) which has very beautiful and tame ornaments. Koi are usually preserved as decorations with the aim of heed and luck in the home and outside the house (koi pond or water park, because koi fish are believed to bring good luck.
