Locked-Out Phone Backup

[NO ROOT] Data recovery that runs atop lockscreen, install via Play website.

Hybrid app that runs on top of the lockscreen backing up all files (and public app data) to external SD or USB drive. [NO ROOT or ADB or TWRP REQUIRED].

Only catch: This app relies on notifications being accessible and clickable from the lockscreen!

Background: Many Android devices still can acquire a "bricked lockscreen" (after the kids get their hands on it and enter too many passwords), and while it can still connect to the Internet, Android Device Manager fails to reset the pattern. You're further out of luck when you confirm the USB Debugging is turned off and bootloader is locked.

Any devices that are:

* permanently locked out,

* not rooted,

* ADB not accessible,

* connectable to the Internet,

* linked to a Google account, and

* has notification drawer accessible and/or clickable Lollipop notifications,

is guaranteed to have all files (and some app data) recovered by Locked-out Storage Recovery.

It is a rare possibility that some devices that do NOT have notification drawer accessible may still be recoverable, depending on whether the app can be loaded automatically on BOOT_COMPLETED. Android has patched this vulnerability a long time ago, but a modified kernel may allow this behavior.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Before installing, find a large micro SD card (or thumbdrive with an OTG adapter), and place a file named "copy-here.txt" on the root directory. Insert the media into your phone, then install the app from the browser. Finally, pull down the notification bar, and click the "app installed" notification to launch the script. Profit!

UNETHICAL USE:

Attempting to retrieve someone else's data is identity theft, and will come back to bite you. When you install this app, it cannot be uninstalled (limitation of Google Play desktop site). Unlocking the screen and going to settings is the ONLY way to uninstall this app. The owner of the device will be notified that his/her data was copied. We designed this app with those precious baby pictures in mind, while also designing to prevent malicious behavior. This utility should work on all devices running 4.0 ICS and above. For Gingerbread and below, there are other (easier) solutions, such as Lockscreen Bypass Pro (no affiliation).
