Burdah (Arabic: قصيدة البردة) is a Qasidah (songs) containing verses about praise / prayer to the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w .. The poem was created by Imam al Busiri of Egypt. In Indonesia, the Burdah is often sung mainly by the Nahdliyins.

Burma's Qashidah is always echoed by its lovers at all times. In various Islamic countries, both in Arab countries and in (non-Arab), there are special assemblies for reading Burdah and explanations of their verses. The ceaselessness of Muslims in all corners of the world made it an outpouring of longing for the Prophet. Burdah is not just a work. He was read because of the beauty of his words. Dr. De Sacy, an Arabic linguist at the Sorbonne University, France, praised him as the best poetry work of all time.

In Hadhramaut and many other Yemeni regions there were recitations of quranid Burdah every morning on Friday or ashar on Tuesday. While the Al-Azhar clerics in the Egyptian city are many that specialize on Thursday for Burdah readings and conduct studies. Until now there are still readings of Burdah in large mosques in the city of Egypt, such as the Imam Al-Husain Mosque, the As-Sayyid Zainab Mosque. In the Syrian (Syrian) country the quridah Burdah assemblies were also held in homes and in mosques, and were attended by great scholars. In Morocco, large assemblies are also held to read the qashidah Burdah with sweet and beautiful songs, each with a special song.

Burdah is not only beautiful in her words, but her prayers also benefit the soul. Therefore it is not surprising that many scholars provide special notes about Burdah, both in the form of syarah (commentary) and hasyiyah (footnotes or marginal notes). There are so many angry works on Burdah who are no longer known who the authors are.

Qashidah Burdah is one of the most popular works in Islamic literature. The contents of the poem are praise to the Prophet Muhammad, the message of morality, spiritual values, and the spirit of struggle. Until now Burdah is still often recited in various salaf pesantren and on the anniversary of the Prophet's birthday. Many also memorized it. The work has been translated into various languages, such as Persian, Turkish, Urdu, Punjabi, Swahili, Pastum, Indonesian / Malay, English, French, German, Italian.

The author of Qashidah Burdah is Al-Bushiri (610-695H / 1213-1296 AD). His full name is Syarafuddin Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Zaid Al-Bushiri. Apart from writing Burdah, Al-Bushiri also wrote several other qashidahs. Among them are Al-Qashidah Al-Mudhariyah and Al-Qashidah Al-Hamziyah.
