Explanation of Reinterpreting Birr Al-Walidain by Muhadditsir Rifa'i
This Android application is an explanation of reinterpreting Birr Al-Walidain by Muhadditsir Rifa'i. In Pdf format.
Dear reader,
Among the teachings conveyed to humanity is the command to be kind to parents, which we often know as birr al-walidain.
Parents are figures who have a huge contribution to the presence of humanity in the world, as well as playing an important role in the process of personal maturation and the formation of our personalities. They are taught to treat their children with love and prevent children from committing acts of violence.
As an example given by the Prophet Muhammad, when a mother grabbed her child who was urinating and was in her arms. To the mother, the Prophet said, "This baby's urine can be cleaned, but the way you took him roughly from my arms will leave a mark on him for the rest of his life."
Therefore, due to the patience of our parents, especially our mothers, in conceiving, raising and caring for us, each of us is commanded to be filial to our parents. In Islam, this term is known as Birr-al-walidain.
How do we need to discuss the meaning of birr al-walidain again in the midst of a situation where parents (seniors) experience various problems in their lives in old age? This theme caught the attention of Muhadditsir Rifa'i, a lecturer at the Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Islamic Institute (IAIN) who is also a participant in Rahima's Male Ulama Education (PUL).
Through the 46th edition of the Swara Rahima Supplement rubric, Rifai will share the results of his thoughts and studies regarding various Islamic religious texts related to filial piety to parents.
Why is living the teachings about birr al-walidain important? This is inseparable from the development of modern life which is increasingly individualistic, sometimes ignoring the values of the role of the extended family, including parents. The shift in the population pyramid, where the population of elderly people is increasing, also requires the role of the state to overcome this.
According to data from the Indonesian Female Population Profile published by the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 2010, it shows that the number of elderly people is 19.44 million. The percentage of the elderly population that has reached above 7% shows that Indonesia has entered the group of countries with an aging population. Of the elderly population above, the percentage of elderly women is around 53.76 percent and the number of elderly men is around 46.24 percent.
This situation shows that the life expectancy of elderly women is higher than that of elderly men. Among the causes are socio-cultural factors that construct women as having been accustomed to being independent since childhood, carrying out many tasks (multi-tasking) and being able to solve several problems at once.
