The Indigenous Radio of Costa Rica

Mi Fute Radio represents the indigenous people who since the Law of 77 left them out; since the indigenous from the colony has lived in any part of the country. IFUTE: It is a movement of the "Indigenous Outside Territories" of Costa Rica. In 1977 the government by decree created the new territorial limits for the Cabecar, Bribri, Teribes or Broram and Brunkas Indigenous Ethnic groups; leaving more than 65% of indigenous people outside these territories, according to data from the 2011 INEC census. These IFUTE live anywhere in the country, with Buenos Aires being the canton with the highest concentration of IFUTE. In 2008, Eduardo Rojas Méndez, Director of the La Piñera School, at that time, together with Nobel Prize winner Oscar Arias, started the IFUTE Movement to organize this indigenous community to fight for their rights since the state left them abandoned. IFUTE has indigenous Associations in different parts of the Country and each Association has its own organization of the Council for the Elderly.
